bowling pins

Work is pretty amazing.
Amazing how it's always so eventful at work, in both the gd and bad way.
Today, colleague K, asked me along to their bowling session during LUNCHTIME.
Like W.H.A.T.
But of course they had a valid reason for that,
and that was bcos the corporate bowling competition was round the corner and they had needed practice.
For me, I'm just a free loader. Haha.
Feel so bad about that.

Can't rmb the last time I went bowling!
Not that im a pro at it or anything, but it's still really enjoyable.
I bet it is one of the best de-stress methods ever- the way you channel all that bad energy of yours to the ball; knocking down the pins all in a loud BAM (not that i knocked down much pins though =x)
The only untimely thing was that i wore a dress. I'm usually in jeans n tshirt on Fridays but I just decide to don a dress, it's just SO SO SO untimely.

Best lunch buds! Playing on the same lane.

For the two of them who hardly bowl, I must say that they have a real flair in it.
Fantastic!
Even by getting 73, Im like the lowest among the bunch of 9 people.
All these people are (Y)

TGIF! :)

the bravery cafe

Had team lunch today together with boss to celebrate new colleague J's second month in the office.
Really, any reason for having a good lunch is just excuses.
It's really more like team bonding and just find time to hang out together amidst everybody's busy schedule (never-ending meetings and deadlines to meet).

So colleague F (aka hungrygofel- so named because she's such a foodie hunter!),
suggested to go to bravery cafe for lunch.
Finding places to lunch is no easy feat for us because despite having drivers in the team,
we can only dine at places nearby to maximum the time we have.

The Bravery Cafe is conveniently located in the east,
so super near to Windowsill that gk and i went the other time.
Upon stepping into the shop, fragrant coffee beans greeted me.
It was a really clean setting, minimalistic really.
The stools we were sitting on were like wooden crates/boxes.

The menu was simple to read, if not the servers are always ready to recommend.
Food was served rather promptly,
but one of them accidentally let the poached egg slipped.
That tells you how gooey it is!

I ordered a salmon something- pardon my bad memory
But I think there's only one salmon dish so you'll be able to figure this out.
The toast was nutty and crunchy; the salmon was really fresh.
The portion looks rather small but it's actually quite feeling.

This is the much raved about latte. It certainly lived up to its name.
Satisfying for a caffeine addict like me.

I think i would go back to try the other mains!
You should to!

sore eyed sunday

Sunday started out with major tiredness, bad sinus and really swollen eyes that required extra effort to keep my eye open. Had to drag myself to tuition and got my daddy to drive me instead. Not in the mood to be driving :((

Finally endured 2h tuition session where I was trying my best to avoid eye contact with everyone but my tutee is a cray cray and super kpo girl so she kept looking at me in the eye. If this eye problem is contagious hmmm... then she's in trouble.

In any case, the boy came to pick me up and we went to study today.
It's impossible to have frivolous shopping dates when he has lots of quiz and I have tons of readings unread.
And to satisfy my week-long sashimi craving, we went to get a fat slab of salmon to eat-
Just for me.! Bcos the boy doesn't know how to appreciate the freshness of raw fish.
No pictures available as I was busy gobbling them all down. Hee!
Wanted to hang out at the cafes but all these sec school kids are such hoggers,
we couldn't get any seats at all.

So we had no choice but to head to the nearest place we could find.
Tata~
He is such a gobbler too!
Finished the entire chicken burger in like 4min.
Monster!

Ended the day with dinner at his place.
Home-cooked food is XOXOXO
Plus we don't have to wrack our heads to decide what to have for dinner.

For now, I'm gg to rest my damn-poor-thing eyes :(

backview couple shot today bcos my eye looks SCARY and
to not aggravate it I didn't have any makeup on lest it makes things worse

food delivery

Somebody came knocking at almost midnight to send a special delivery.
榴莲(!!)
But eating this in the middle of the night is really quite sinful...

classmates and such

Uni kids, especially those in my school, is pretty cool.
They plan and book their holiday without considering the academic school term!
=O

Hahaha.
But at least it's only the first/second week of school term so it isn't that bad.
Classmates J and J (they are sisters!!) went on a trip to India last week.
Saw the photos they've posted and it's actually really pretty.
But i don't think i can take the sweltering heat at 39-40 degree celsius,
Too insane!
J and J both came back a few shades darker!
And they very kindly bought us very authentic India snacks (!!)
Mad masala and chilli chatka.
Sounds really exotic (hmmm...).

PICNIC TIME IN CLASS! =D

Back to School!

Just 12 more hours and Year 3 Sem 1 officially begins.
Holiday literally flew by!
I'm actually slightly excited abt starting sch tomorrow
despite all the impending stress.
But I think I will eat my words within a weeks' time,
maybe even tmr after e lecturers spell out all the upcoming deadlines.
 Haha.
I'm ironic like that.

3 weeks of holidays and here's what I managed to do
despite spending 9 out of 21 days at work.
Not too bad I think!

-Tidied up my desk
-Minor cleanup of my room
-Brought le baby niece to the swimming pool twice
-Went out and met up with 3 groups of friends
-Finished half of "Vanishing Point" by Felix Chong
-Finished all 3 seasons of "Game of Thrones"
-Finished half of "In time with You"
-Exercised once a week
-Volunteered at "All Saints' Home"

It has been a FANTASTIC holiday.
I wished it was a little longer actually. =X
Quite excited to meet both old friends and new friends.
Plus all the lecturers this semester are entirely NEW.
Hmmm.. Fresh start!

Senior year, let's go!
Meeting the guys for lunch before gg to class together tmr
=D

random musings

Fatty's new pet.
She named it pokpok

grey skies sunday

Uber lazy Sunday.
I was chilling at home, just watching nonsense on tv and reading papers
and totally enjoying being alone at home. (Y)
Things that is really quite a luxury to be doing most of the time,
before I finally drag my nua body out of the hse to meet the boy at 4ish.

There isnt much you can do at 4ish in the afternoon
and there was no good movies to watch AT ALL.
Spore can become quite a boring place after a while.
So we ended up going to IKEA since
guys are more entertained shopping for housewares than clothes (weird ppl.)

And we somehow ended up in matching colours without coordination.
:)

Enjoyed the convenience of having a car today since his parents weren't using.
And it's the LAST time we will ever be in it ever
bcos the parents r gonna get their new car next week.
It's just a car to most, but this car was the first car we had on many of our dates,
the car that I/he practised in before I/we got my/our licenses,
the car that I drove beyond my comfort zone & conquered expressway (of pathetic east side places).
Just too many memories together with the car.

It's just bittersweet,
and certainly deserve a photo for memory sake.
XOXO

So much for posing while driving.
Dangerous driver. Tsk Tsk.

And that kind of ended our Sunday.

Pie tasting @Windowsill in the Woods

It's nice to have a date on Friday night
where you can be excited and have something to look forward to after work.

Met up with my pweety friend finally after several missed opportunities
in the west and some others.
Got bored of dating in the tamp particularly n decided to venture further.
Googled a little the night before and actually realised that there r a lot of nice places in the east!

We finally settled on something concrete which is good
even if minor changes take place which it did.
Haha. But in any case, I still proud of myself for being able to find the place
(im seriously bad at navigating, like seriously. ha!)

Here, our date at Windowsill in the Woods @Jalan Besar
within walking distance from lavender MRT station

A word of caution though;
when they are known for nice pies- stick to it!
I originally thought tacos were the safest thing to eat ever, but I was proved wrong.
Haha. Food presentation looks good
But I will go against ordering the taco the next time.
My shrimp taco had a sour taste that takes you aback on the first bite.
I must say that it is a rather acquired taste which takes a bit of getting used to.

Gk's chicken heart and octopus taco is even more exotic.
I first thought it would be all minced up.
However, the chicken heart came in WHOLE.
And it taste a little overpowering.
The small pieces below the cake n taco is the pieces of chicken heart
=O

The pies however, were another story altogether.
Ordered a lemon strawberry and grasshopper (mint & chocolate mousse) to share.
Loving both.
Grasshopper has a thick texture which is rather smooth and not too sweet.
Lemon strawberry was a refreshing contrast to the thick chocolate.
But gk finds it a little too sour and sweet at the same time.

But I have to complement how the staff took effort and pride in explaining each pie
and the ingredients in it.
Very personal and friendly!

Even the toilet door/signs looks cute.

Big bear available for photo-taking. Haha.

It's a really cutesy place and I might be back for some pies next time.

But to make up for the less than satisfactory tacos, we just had to find something else.
And ended up at swee choon!
Can't believe it's the girl's FIRST TIME!
Is that even possible! =O
Haha. But waiting time was quite short (20min) as compared to other wkends that I went.

For 2 girls, we ate ALOT!
(spending more than $30 bucks for dimsum)(!!)
It was so YUMZZ though!

The dimsum made the day so satisfying!
And I got a lift from my very nice friend home.
Convenience of an automobile.

:))

fresh books; fresh start

Holiday is almost coming to an end. *SOBS*
And the realization gets even more real after you've collected your academic materials for the coming sem.

Typically at Murdoch@Kaplan,
school fee payment are due two weeks before semester begins;
course material collection starts one week before semester begins.
And if you think about it, it simply makes no sense to go back to school twice when it is HOLIDAY!
My personal trick is to simply pay my fees the day I want to collect your books.
This saves a lot of trouble and time!
Of course, in the week that you haven't paid your fees, the school will send reminder,
but fret not. Nothing will happen to you, really.
*wink*
Either that, or you can choose to collect your books on the day of your first lesson.
Problem solved!

Since collection of books is for the entire batch of Murdoch students
from IT, PSY, COMM, BIZ...
It's actually quite a large crowd.
Hence, it is common that the school dedicates 2 classrooms (remove the dividing panels to become 1 huge room)
and make it course material collection room for a week.
It looks like this:

I chose to go at some random weekday afternoon and so I was the first and only person collecting.
But on other days, there might be some crowd and it can be common to get wrong books/missing/extra books.
So DO check before you leave !
Each module consist of a unit guide and a binded booklet which consist of the powerpoint slides.
I like how textbooks are included if required for the module so we don't have to go around hunting for textbooks.

Also, the recyclable bags that are given to hold our materials so that we don't have to lug plastic or paper bags.
So thoughtful! (but then again free advertising for them also. haha)
I would usually pass these bags to my mother who has far more use for them than I do.
And it's interesting to see the evolution of the bag designs.

For now, I'm going to enjoy the last bit of my holiday.
Have fun in school guys! =D

BRUNCH.

It's quite nice to wake up in the afternoon and know that there is food already prepared on the table.
One of the few good things abt having a sister who's a housewife and has a kid.
Mini farfalle lightly sauteed with olive oil and tomatoes, baked chicken wings and roasted sweet potatoes, carrot and potato.
Quite a feast for lunch.
*smack lips*
